This session provides a practical overview of foundational health laws that affect individuals and organizations operating within the health care industry. Attendees will be introduced to key fraud and abuse laws, Federal health care program reimbursement frameworks, privacy and security requirements, and key compliance obligations (e.g., Anti-Kickback Statute, Physician Self-Referral Law, HIPAA). Attendees will gain a general understanding of essential health laws governing health care operations and learn how these laws influence everyday business, contracting (e.g., provider services and real estate transactions), and risk management decisions for health care clients.
